How do you help keep participants safe?
QUEERSPACE is committed to creating a supportive and affirming mentorship experience for everyone. All mentees complete an application with a selfie video that our staff carefully reviews before accepting. Mentor must also pass an additional screening process that includes a background check, reference checks, online training, and interview with staff.
Are conversations private?
Mentor-mentee conversations are generally private, but they are not completely confidential. QUEERSPACE staff may review communications when necessary to respond to safety concerns, reports, or violations of community guidelines. In situations involving concerns about someone behaving inappropriately, users may report a chat or profile directly through the app by pressing down on the chat for a few seconds. They can also use the "Contact Us" feature.
​Can parents, guardians, or caregivers see conversations?
No. Conversations between mentors and mentees are not shared with parents, guardians, or caregivers through the app.
What happens if I have a concern?
Participants can report a concern about a mentor, mentee, or message directly through the app. QUEERSPACE staff review reports and follow up as appropriate.

QS APP - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does a mentorship match last?
Every mentorship relationship is different. Some matches may last a few months, while others continue longer. QS staff regularly check in to support both mentors and mentees throughout the process.
How often should mentors and mentees communicate?
We encourage regular communication and meaningful engagement, especially at the beginning of your match. Work together to set expectations, but we recommend connecting meaningfully 1-2x per week.
What if the match doesn't feel like a good fit?
Not every match is the right fit, and that's okay.
You can use the "Switch Mentor/Mentee" feature within the app to let us know. A QS staff member will follow up with you to learn more about your experience, discuss options, and help determine whether a new match may be a better fit.
Can allies and caregivers participate in the QS App?
Anyone can download the QS App and join as a "guest" profile to access our resources section. However, you'll not be able to participate in the virtual mentorship program. We hope to support "Caregiver" and "Community Member" profiles with future updates to the app.
Can I leave the program?
Yes, you can delete your profile and quit the program at any time.
